Route optimization and route scheduling

Route optimization is the process of planning one or multiple routes for a given set of vehicles (fleet) and customers to be served, with the purpose of minimizing overall costs, while achieving the highest possible performance under a set of given constraints and considering other routes which share the same purpose.

Route scheduling is the process of assigning an arrival and service time for each stop, with drivers being assigned shifts that adhere to their working hours.

Route optimization and scheduling diminishes fuel and maintenance costs while increases resource utilization and logistics efficiency, by serving more customers within the given time frame with the optimal number of vehicles/drivers leading to saving time and money. A key component for companies that want to operate on the edge of competition!

NAVARCHOS currently supports a number of route optimization and scheduling uses cases:

  • A company has X vehicles available having specific capacity, a clientele of Y customers with specific demand, and a given service time for each customer. Additionally, the company has Z warehouses with a predefined working time window. Products must be delivered to all customers within the time window of the warehouse. The optimal solution will involve the minimum number of vehicles and their route scheduling to cover the Y customers achieving the minimum travel time.
